Obstructed Visibility – A constant hazard

Potential sources of reduced visibility:

  • Thick dust, smoke, fog
  • The load
  • Trees
  • Tall grass
  • Heavy traffic
  • Structures, buildings, etc.
  • Wood, gravel, sand, material/snow piles
  • Exiting/entering narrow passageways

 

When visibility is obstructed:

  • Drive slowly
  • Use your horn – as required to warn.
  • When load obstructs visibility
    – adjust load height to its lowest point.
  • When loads extend a significant
    distance to either side of the equip
    – watch for any obstructions.
  • Use a signal person as required.
