Rear-Axle Torque

Tractor safety Centre of Gravity & Stability Rear-Axle Torque

Engaging the clutch applies torque (twisting force) to the rear axle of the tractor.
Normally the axle rotates & the tractor moves forward unless axle rotation is restrained.
Such as:

Starting with a heavy load.
Stuck in the mud.
Drive wheels are frozen to the ground.

Towing & hitching should only be performed according to the mfg. specs.
